giivng back

We're big believers on spreading the light of love by giving back to those in need. Every month we donate a portion of our income to a charity organization of our choice; we also regularly volunteer our time to local organizations that work to make our community a better place to live for everyone.

Be sure to scroll to the bottom and checkout thecommon.org to see how you too can get involved and check-out our blog from time to time to hear stories of how our little dollars are streched by these wonderful organizations to make a big difference.  :)

Here Are A Few Of Our Favorite Organizations:

20 LITERS is a non-profit organization committed to creating access to clean water for the 1 billion people who lack it…20 liters at a time.

nearly one billion of the world’s poorest people lack access to clean water, and are forced to travel great distances to collect water from contaminated sources. as a result, water-borne diseases are the leading cause of death globally for children under the age of five, and half the patients in the world’s hospitals are suffering from diseases related to unsafe water.

OPERTION SMILE, measures their success by the joy we see on children's faces. they're more than a charity. they're a mobilized force of medical professionals and caring hearts who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

more than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition each year — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. in some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life.

KIDS HOPE USA believes that one simple thing will make a big difference in the life of an at-risk child: one-on-one, positive attention from a responsible, caring adult.

kids hope usa, develops these one-on-one relationships through the creation of church-school partnerships that pair church members with at-risk kids in supportive, mentoring relationships. mentors spend just one hour per week, reading, talking, playing and listening to a child at school. by helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed. you can change a life…and that’s no small change.

DONORS CHOOSE is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. here's how it works: public school teachers from every corner of america post classroom project requests on donorschoose.org. requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class. then, you can browse project requests and give any amount to the one that inspires you. once a project reaches its funding goal, we deliver the materials to the school.

you'll get photos of your project taking place, a thank-you letter from the teacher, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. If you give over $100, you'll also receive hand-written thank-you letters from the students. at donorschoose.org, you can give as little as $1 and get the same level of choice, transparency, and feedback that is traditionally reserved for someone who gives millions. they call it citizen philanthropy.

HUMILITY NOW is a non-profit organization committed to working with the homeless, not just for them. based on the idea that true humility counts others more significant than yourself. this makes the word more than just a noun, but a verb. something you practice. something you do. an art. we exist to mobilize those who thirst for opportunities to practice true humility. this is our answer to the cry of the poor, ignored, and starving in our own neighborhoods. we know it isn’t easy, but the hurting are waiting …

THE SHARK TRUST is the uk charity for shark conservation. the trust works to advance the worldwide conservation of sharks through science, education, influence and action. the trust is in favor of sustainably managed fisheries and works with both commercial and recreational fishers and their representative organizations in a bid to secure a future for elasmobranch stocks.

WILD AID their mission is to end the illegal wildlife trade within our lifetimes. to achieve this wildaid uniquely focuses on raising awareness to reduce the demand for threatened and endangered species products and to increase public support for wildlife conservation. WildAid is a non-profit 501(c )3 organization headquartered in san francisco with representation in china, india, galapagos, london and canada. we are also revolutionary in our funding - our overhead is funded by donations from foundations and direct donations from individuals so that all on-line donations can go 100% into programs.

DONATE LIFE, become an organ donor! organ and tissue transplants offer patients a new chance at healthy, productive, normal lives and return them to their families, friends and communities. you have the power to change someone's world by being a donor. It's about living. it's about life.
